In real estate, over 90% of all transactions are starting online. That means that 90% (or more) of the houses listed in your area were listed by an agent the home owner found online. Therefore, there is a ton of traffic to be had from potential home buyers and sellers. Right? That only makes sense.
Why do I bring this up?
While, it seems that the average real estate agent is getting next to nothing for traffic. And this is increasingly forcing realtors to rely on buying leads from sites like Zillow, Trulia, and more. Buying leads isn't a bad practice. But it is something that should supplement your main source of business. The leads you buy should be profit boosters. Not your only profit.
After all, it's kind of ironic that the real estate industry 'rents' their leads from big companies when they're selling a product who's core benefit is ownership.
So what are real estate agents to do? How can you get traffic and leads to your website?
Today, I'm going to break down the following infographic into 3 simple steps to follow in order to get your first 10,000 real estate website visitors. These first visitors will get you over the hump in terms of getting used to online marketing. They will help you get a handle on what you're doing.
In fact, your first 10,000 visitors are going to be the hardest visitors to get. Once you get to 10,000 you can easily find your way to growing the number of people that visit your website. And figure out how to get more leads from all those visits.
Here's a quick overview of the steps to get your first 10,000 website visitors:
1. Start Blogging
Do you know how many blogs Zillow published today? I personally guarantee the number is over 4. In fact, most days it's over 6. The number of visitors a website gets is directly related to how helpful its content is. You need to have a blog on your real estate website that guides visitors through common issues, questions, and tips related to buying and selling real estate.
This will get you traffic from search engines and social media.
2. Get Social
Social media is the easiest way to pull people back to your website starting today. I recommend various posting strategies for the different networks in the infographic below. If you write a blog and post it to social media consistently, you're website will eventually get 10,000 visitors coming to it.
3. Use Email To Get People Back To The Site:
What's the best way to engage with these visitors? Email. Currently, it's the most profitable form of online marketing. Your goal should be to increase the number of visitors to your website. And then increase the percentage of people that sign up for your newsletter. Newsletter marketing is one of the most effective ways to snag buyers now that won't buy for another 6-12 months.
