Are you content challenged? With all the buzz about creating content, it can be difficult for some to come up with effective ways to write and deliver your content.
And that’s where Slideshare comes into play, rescuing you from the magnitude of words!
What is it?
Well, it’s one of the top most-visited websites in the world, with over 70 million unique visitors a month and 18 million uploads to date. As the name implies, it’s a deck of slides created and shared in a presentation format online.
It can be as simple or detailed as you choose.
Your Slideshare presentations can be short tidbits of real estate news and information that can highlight your expertise, for example.
The real benefit, however, is that you don’t have to come up with 1000-2000 words for a Slideshare presentation. It’s a much more abbreviated format that’s centered around visuals, not words.
This is what makes it such an engaging way in which to reach potential clients and provide them with valuable real estate information. From reaching your local target market to reaching other real estate professionals, it’s one of those hidden gems that will help market your message.
So, how would you like to reach 70 million people?
Here is how to get started:
Create a Slideshare Presentation
Make your presentation by utilizing any basic format such as Powerpoint, Google Slides or ICloud Keynote. You can even utilize the creativity from Canva and Haiku Deck.
Haiku Deck offers you the option to create a presentation right within Slideshare; it can’t get any easier than that, where you pick your layout, font and add your text and images. It’s simply a matter of uploading presentations, documents, videos and infographics or create them right within slideshare.
(Tip: Be sure to make your slideshares easy to click through. Make the viewer want to get to the next slide. Use great images and words that matter.)
Ideas for Content
1. Create Original Content
Do you like to write? If you have no issues with pumping out real estate articles for your business, then simply put it in a Slideshare presentation. Add some visuals, and you’re good to go. Simple as that.
2. Repurposed content
What about that article you published last year? Why not repurpose it in a Slideshare presentation. Dust it off and cut it down for slides. Insert some images, banners and headlines to make it like new. Make it wow an audience.
(You can even repurpose a recent article, like I just did with my Avoiding Buyer Pitfalls article.)
3. Real Estate Market Reports
Do you complete monthly market reports for your city? How about highlighting some key features of your report and present the statistics on slides? It could be a summary of your written report.
4. New Real Estate Listings
Even that new listing could benefit from a Slideshare presentation.
5. Information about your local community
What’s going on in your community? Slideshare is a great way to inform prospective clients about the area you specialize in. Announce upcoming events, trendy restaurants, beautiful parks, hidden coffeshops and cafes, live music...basically anything you can think of. This will also let them know that you’re the go-to agent for this area.
6. Include YouTube Videos
Are you good with video? One of the best parts is that you can even add your YouTube videos to your slides. So try adding a video of yourself discussing your local real estate market, touring the community, showcasing a listing, and more. It’s a great way to make your presentation even more engaging.
(Tip: Add links in your slides to drive traffic back to your lead-generating website.)
After It’s Been Published
While Slideshare is social platform in itself, you can also share your presentations with other sites. Share them on Social media: Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, Pinterest and a whole host of other Social media platforms. You can also embed them into your web and blog sites.

How well are your presentations performing?
Slideshare provides analytics so you know where your visitors are coming from. By tracking the traffic, you’re much better equipped to see if what you’re doing is effective or needs to be adjusted.
Some questions to ask:
- Are your presentation’s being shared socially?
- What are the sources for viewing your presentations?
- Did they find you via search, direct, embed, search, social, SlideShare or referral?
Slideshare is a fantastic avenue that Realtors can use to help spread the news about their real estate business.
I’ve learned a lot from my initial attempts. I also know that I need to get back to creating more Slideshare presentations. I’m not sure why I ever slowed down, perhaps it’s the magnitude of content marketing platforms available to us as real estate agents.
Sure we can’t do it all, but Slideshare is indeed an effective addition to your marketing efforts.
