Swimming pools. Private movie theatres. Professional kitchens.
These used to be the main selling points in luxury homes.
But now, luxury homes have become even more luxurious, pushing these features from luxury to commonplace.
Luxury homes are family homes but served on a 24 karat gold platter. Those that are luxury homebuyers are used to living lavishly, so much so that in-ground pools and in-house entertainment centers aren’t cutting it anymore. The features that exist in the new generation of luxury homes are bigger, more extravagant, and contribute to the expensive lifestyle that their owners lead.
Here are 5 luxury features that luxury homebuyers are looking for - and even have come to expect - in potential homes.
Spacious, full room walk-in closets
Walk-in closets have always been a pretty standard feature in luxury homes. This is an especially high priority for those stylish clients that wish to show off their clothes and shoes. The walk-in closet serves as an extension to the bedroom, where they can take their time to get ready. Features should include plenty of shelves and racks to display shoes, tons of closet space, and plenty of mirrors and lighting to model an outfit, style hair, or apply makeup.
Private wine locker
Forget going out to a wine bar for wine tasting - having a private wine locker within the home is where it’s at! This feature will especially appeal to those who are wine connoisseurs and are looking to host their own, private wine parties with their own collection of wine. But make sure that it’s not just a dark room in the basement! Think chilled, enclosed space for the wine and another seating area for guests to enjoy a bottle.
Large scale pool - with an infinity edge
Swimming pools are the perfect staple in an ordinary family home. Luxury homes are not ordinary homes though, so ordinary, in-ground swimming pools won’t cut it anymore. The two popular types of pools for luxury homes are now either extra big (think Olympic-sized pools to train in) or have what is known as an infinity edge, where it gives off the effect that the sunset is setting on the edge of the pool.
Speaking of Olympic-sized pools, if your client is looking for another way to train hard and then unwind right after, be sure to look out for homes that have a spacious and private home gym. With state of the art equipment, a sound system and even a sauna to relax in, there won’t be a need to invest in a gym pass anymore!
High tech everything
Technology in the home is not the future anymore - it’s the here and now. We’re talking about high tech everything so as to make things more convenient for homeowners, from a smartphone app that can remotely control your home security system to home automation systems that can be controlled with the sound of your voice, and even refrigerators that can tell you what you need to buy and what is going to expire soon.
