Benefits provided and no taxes collected, imagine that?!
Google+ has been around as a Social Network since 2011 and there have been plenty a discussion on it’s effectiveness. I’m in the camp that it’s very effective.
The benefits discussed here will answer some of the most frequent, burning questions that come from Real Estate Agents regarding Google+, such as:
- What can Google+ do for you as a Real Estate Agent?
- How can a Real Estate Agent grow with Google+?
- What can a Real Estate Agent do for Google+? It isn’t always about what someone can do for you. To get the full benefit you’ll need to participate in helping others.
- Are you willing to do what it takes as a Real Estate Agent to benefit from Google+?
Why Google+? Perhaps you should answer what it is you want from Google+ and what are you willing to do to find success with Google+? How can you benefit from Google+?
What are the 5 Ways to Benefit from Google+?
1. Relationship Building
Social Media is all about building relationships no matter what platform you choose and the same holds true for Google+. To have success, relationships need to be built.
How do you build these relationships? I remember when I first started on Google+ as I put my toes in the waters really having no idea what to do or expect. I knew it just had to be about developing relationships with other like minded Real Estate Agents; those eager to learn, grow and achieve. So I started by “plussing” (+1) posts of
others. I started commenting with genuine interest. I observed others who seemed to be having success and I followed their lead. I shared their posts, I mentioned their names. Who doesn’t like to hear their name? That’s salesmanship 101, saying the other persons name.
It’s important to know that only sharing your listings and Real Estate articles and news, will not get you interested followers. This is probably the biggest mistake that I see Agents make. You must take the time to interact and engage with other Real Estate professionals on Google+. You have to be shown as being interested in what others are saying. Others matter in Google+ just like they do in real life. Real Estate is real life.
You’ve begun developing relationships. Your keen sense has had you tracking down other Real Estate professionals who share your passion. I know passion can often be an overused word, but you see it in others who have that eagerness and dedication to being the best that they can be in their craft. No effectiveness is ever achieved without it.
2. Gaining Exposure
Building yourself up to be seen as an expert. It’s your opportunity to broadcast what it is that you do; sell homes.
You must participate in Google+. Notice I said “participate”. To take part in, engage in, join in, get involved in, share in, cooperate in, help out with. This is what it means to participate. Participation brings exposure.
Exposure comes from providing information that shows you’re knowledgeable in Real Estate. This information comes in the way of providing your own Real Estate content along with sharing other’s Real Estate content. This doesn’t mean that you simply post links directing others to read, as simply posting a link isn’t showing that you are providing value. Anyone can drop a link. If you have any hope of getting readers interested in what you post, you need to splash in front of them a reason to want to read what you just posted. Be yourself. Many will like what you have to say and how you say it, when you just take the time to draw them in. You can be persuasive, I’m sure, after all, you sell homes for a living.
3. Attracting New Business
When you build relationships and gain exposure, it’s only natural that your opportunity to attract business will now be kicked up a notch. You’ll be known as a Real Estate professional serving your local community. I’ve worked hard to set myself up to be the Real Estate Agent from Coral Springs Florida.
When I need to refer business to an out of state Agent, I first think of those I’ve built relationships with on Google+ in order to send business their way because I know of their abilities, their skill sets and how they treat their customers and most important, how they sell homes for a living. Be the person who is sought out to pass a referral to.
In addition, Google+ provides you with tremendous SEO benefits to get yourself found when you’re needed to sell a home in your local neighborhood.
4. Increasing knowledge
It’s not so much about what you ate for lunch or what you did over the weekend, but rather what are you eager to learn about. Google+ is a constant source of information, valuable information. What do you want to learn more about to enhance your business? We’ve been told time and time again that knowledge is power. You’ll find it on Google+. From proven methods to getting a home sold, to preparing for homeownership, to mortgages, to premier SEO techniques to get yourself found by customers and everything in between. You’ll have access to such building blocks for your Real Estate career. The information is endless.
5. Achieving Fulfillment
Fulfillment is realized when our desire to achieve something has been met. Satisfaction. When we participate in Social Media we do so for a particular reason or need. Once we have strengthened our knowledge base and have developed meaningful relationships both professionally and personally that has brought a sense of well being to our lives, those needs have been met, thus we feel fulfilled. Who knew that this could be achieved while interacting at Google+. It’s true - it happens there!
When you have a plan, follow it daily/weekly you can benefit from it. It won’t happen overnight, by chance nor by posting listings or link dropping. You need to be the provider of valuable Real Estate information. You must get involved and be an active participant as I mentioned earlier.
How many of you prospect for your business? Attending to Google+ is prospecting. Set it into your daily/weekly schedule. Just do it.
