For as much as we don’t want to admit it, the year is almost over. Once you hit Halloween, the rest of the holidays go by in a flash and another year begins again.
As you settle in to your Thanksgiving tradition, it’s always a good time to reflect on what you are most thankful for – your family and your friends, your health, being financially stable, your own business and its success…or whatever else comes to mind in this time of thankfulness.
Maybe it’s the handwritten notes I have come to add to my daily routine, or watching Jimmy Fallon write his famous “thank you notes” each week, but it got me thinking and had me stop for a moment to just remember some of the most memorable occasions that made me say those two very powerful little words of “thank you” over the last year:
Thank you…to our Keyes Title company for staying until nearly midnight to close a deal for first-time homebuyers who pulled together every last dime they had to get into the home the night before their first son was born.
Thank you…to the inspector who found mold behind the walls of a home that my buyer was ready to purchase, knowing very well that my buyer had a deathly allergic reaction to mold that could have hospitalized him for days.
Thank you...to all my trainees who didn’t give up. You came to me scared to death to pick up the phone and call other agents or prospective buyers or sellers, you didn’t know how to farm, or even market yourselves to your sphere of influence, yet today you are closing deals and being top producers in our office.
Thank you…to the seller who called the office early one Saturday morning and I just happened to pick up the phone on my way out the door to a showing. That seller had me list and sell their home. They then bought their next one with me, and introduced me to their family who bought 8 other investment properties which, after we closed, I ended up renting for them.
Thank you…to my Broker who always turns my crazy days of storytelling into positive reflections of what I learned from the experience, good or bad.
Thank you…to the virtual tour that I did for an elderly woman who was selling her $20,000 condo and who broke down in tears when she saw that I did that for her even though, as she put it “my home is inexpensive and not very important”. She referred me to 15 of her friends, 11 of them sold their homes with me to move into the same complex as her, for 11 more sales.
And finally, thank you…to the wonderful world of real estate for giving me the most memorable times, the craziest of stories, tears and smiles, arguments and relationships, but through it all, the best career move I ever made.
